This is German equatorial telescope mount built from standard black iron pipe fittings using ABS iron-to-plastic adaptors as the bearings. The axes are steel pipe, turned smooth and round.

This is a closeup of one of the ABS bearings. The adaptor is screwed into the pipe fitting as tightly as possible, then bored out on the lathe to the dimension of the axle.
This is the drive gear for the polar axle, bored to fit. The gear was made in my shop.Worm Gear Mfg..
